The Thomas Paine is centrally placed in Thetford, a bustling and historic town at the hub of East Anglia. The hotel is privately owned and family run. We offer a high level of comfort and a relaxed ambience, for business or leisure. We are a small hotel with the amenities of a larger hotel, plus a warm, personal welcome. The Thomas Paine is an ideal venue for weddings, dinners and private functions for small groups or parties of up to fifty people. We offer a wide range of catering, tailored to your needs. We specialize in freshly prepared food using local produce, and our varied menus include vegetarian choices. Our intimate beamed restaurant offers good food, an excellent wine list and the choice of a la carte and table d'hote menus every day. Children are especially welcome, and well catered for. We also welcome your pets but unfortunately they are not allowed in the bar or restaurant areas.

All children are welcome. All children under 2 years stay free of charge when using existing bedding. All children under 2 years are charged GBP 5.00 per night and person for cots. All older children or adults are charged GBP 12.50 per night and person for extra beds. Maximum capacity of extra beds in a room is 1. Maximum capacity of babycots in a room is 2.
If cancelled up to 1 day before the date of arrival, no fee will be charged. If cancelled later or in case of no-show, the first night will be charged.

Reception closes at 23.30 hours Monday to Saturday and 23.00 hours on Sundays. For late check in we require prior notice of time of arrival.
If approaching Thetford from London on the a11 take the second exit at the roundabout.Go through two sets of traffic lights just before the pedestrian crossing there is an entrance on the right leading to hotel car park. Approaching Thetford on the A11 from Norwich take the first exit on the roundabout, second exit at both the next two roundabouts carry straight on across the mini roundabout.Just past the second pedestrian crossing our entrance is on the left. Approaching Thetford on the A134 from Bury St Edmunds,take the third right on to Bridge Street go straight on at the traffic lights and the hotel is at the top of the road on the left. Approaching Thetford on the A134 from Kings Lynn,take the second exit at the roundabout,at the next exit take the third exit,carry on straight across the mini roundabout.Just past the second pedestrian crossing turn left into our car park. Approaching Thetford from Diss on the A1066 take the third exit at the first roundabout.At the second roundabout take the first exit carry on straight across the mini roundabout.Just past the second pedestrian crossing turn left into our car park.
